flyPink Floyd fans will especially appreciate the potent mixture of Texan Kim Novak’s organic vocal stylings and UK-based Milo Black’s progressive-minded instrumentation and programming. Together these two unique artists are known as Raspberry Silk, and their introspective takes on life have resonated with fans in the form of Rock chart mainstays like "Regret," "Drowning," and the more hopeful "Wish For Tomorrow" that is currently showing up the most on Java fans’ music radar. For a rush of intricately woven and atmospheric soundscapes that support thought-provoking messages of life, love and loss, look no further than Raspberry Silk. - Javamusic.com
flyRaspberry Silk is a collaboration between Kim Novak and Milo Black, and they each bring interesting skills to the project. Kim's earthy vocal style, lyrics and acoustic guitar mesh really well with Milo's cinematic soundscapes and dramatic dynamic changes - the songs end up both sweepingly grand and well-grounded. Like any really successful collaboration, here the resulting whole is certainly greater than the sum of the parts! - C M
flyA Review of the "Breathe" EP
It's a damp early autumn evening. In the very near future, snow will fall and the earth will freeze solid. For those who prefer a sunny climate, the new EP from Texas/UK band Raspberry Silk will provide a spark of warmth to help you through the winter.

This five song collection is really a collaborative effort by silk-voiced singer Kim Novak and multi-instrumentalist Milo Black. The word "lush" doesn't begin to describe the EP's gorgeous sound. Black expertly creates a delicate background of electric guitars, piano, and percussion, perfect for Novak's clear and engaging voice.

Opening with "You Rescue Me," you are taken into a musical tapestry reminiscent of the October Project (a highly underrated classically-inspired outfit). "Oil On Water" features an aggressive acoustic guitar hook and powerful drumming, while Novak sings with conviction about a challenging relationship. "Breathe" enters Pink Floyd territory with its space-rock/acoustic guitar intro, then transforms into a haunting vocal and melodic slice of ear candy. A relaxing tempo is drenched in waves of acoustic and electric guitars in "Waterfall," which also features some surprising electronic trickery and more of Novak's buttery voice. A classic rock style intro opens the last track, "Space Needle," a mid-tempo number that includes one of the most beautiful and memorable vocal melodies you are likely to hear.

Breathe is expertly produced and recorded. You'll want to listen to these songs with headphones, so you won't miss a note. Raspberry Silk are not a band that is easily pigeonholed within today's musical environment - this is music that transports you to an entirely different dimension. - Doug Cornell of Hitsession.com
