State Flag (36 of 47)
The Arizona state flag
The thirteen stripes on the top half of the Arizona flag represent the thirteen original colonies. They are shown as rays to represent the setting sun of a western state. They are red and yellow to represent the Spanish flags that Coronado carried when he came to Arizona in the sixteenth century. The copper color of the star is symbolic of Arizona being the largest producer of copper in the U.S. The solid blue of the bottom half is the same color as the blue in the U.S. Flag.
