Tower of America's View
September 21, 2004
A view from the Tower of America's in San Antonio. Here's a really big version of the same picture. Look closely and tell me what kinds of things you notice.

Red monument of some kind in the middle of the photo just right of center.

To the right of that, it looks like a building built all the way around an old, probably historic church because they probably weren't allowed to tear it down.

I'm not a keen observer. What did I miss?

You didn't miss anything in particular. I was just wondering what people notice. I see that round building with a flower on top in the left side of the photo. I don't know what that is, nor do I know anything about that red monument and historic church. I should look it up when I have more time.

At the right edge of the picture is the Marriott. Next to that below street level where the line of trees are is the Riverwalk.

A complete lack of people! Does no one walk anywhere? I think I can see two people in the whole picture (on the street corner, near that red thing). Besides them, just cars and buildings.

I think the people are all getting drunk below street level.

Why walk the streets unless you're in a hurry when you have the beautiful riverwalk to walk along?
