I work for TWC (going on 10 years) and there are 2 other places where "Texas Employment Commission" still appears: The stone wall in front of the Annex building steps facing 15th Street and on the back of the Annex building, facing San Jacinto St. And by the way, it's not marble, it is the same pink granite used on the Capitol and the other state office buildings in the area. You are correct, however; it would've costed a LOT of money to change the etchings so it was decided that landscaping would be the best (and least expensive) solution.

Oh yeah... I've seen the one facing 15th street. Thanks for the update, Eric! I should have known it was the pink granite. I love that stuff. My uncle was really impressed with it when he came to visit from Oregon.

Bushes, boxwoods, now cover the etching on the side of the Annex Building that faces 15th street. I drive into the parking garage on the San Jacinto St side every day, and haven't noticed the etching on that side.
I wish you had taken photos of the etchings in the lobby of the building. There are quotations from Ben Franklin and other early politicians.

I go by TWC sometimes when I walk to the capitol and don't take the tunnel. I'll go inside and check it.
Thanks, Nina!
