I will sit through any movie if it has john cusack in it. However, from what I've seen, he doesn't star in any really bad movies. I think he picks his roles well. I liked (but not loved) Colors. I agree about the 80's theme. The girlfriend's hair and clothes are a dead giveaway to the decade. Anyway, the movie is about a 6, but since it stars Cusack, I give it a 7 out of 10.

John Cusack and James Spader play law school roommates from different backgrounds with different ambitions. They become best friends, but end up on different career paths. Cusack wants to be in U.S. politics. Spader ends up at the Justice Department. Spader's girlfriend, a senators daughter, dumps him because she'd rather see him go into politics. She ends up with Cusack. Can their friendship survive? Well... yeah, it can survive that. But as Cusack gets more into politics and the dirty dealings that go along with it, Cusack and Spaders' careers begin to conflict.

This movie was late 80's/early 90's. You can tell by the music. The slap bass on the opening theme... Lord have mercy. In one scene, their in a dive bar and The Pretenders' "Middle of the Road" is playing. Yay!

The movie was okay and a must see for John Cusack fans, of course.
