hey Kim I so agree with you about this move. One of my very dearest friends is in it. she has a small part of a religious woman. OF course I saw it because it had her in it but I thought it was very good and it is always nice to see someone you know full face on the big screen.

By the way Schotzy is doing a little better. We hope he improves more tomorrow.

The Life of David Gale

Has Kevin Spacey ever been in a bad movie? It's pretty much a sign of quality to have Kevin Spacey in the cast. I didn't like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, but I acknowledge it as a quality movie. The Life of David Gale is excellent. Spacey is a guy on death row for raping and murdering a woman friend played by Laura Linney. A strange twist since he and the woman were activists against the death penalty. Kate Winslet is a reporter granted three interviews with Spacey before he is put to death. She hears his story and gathers evidence to prove his innocence. She also learns about the things one is capable of when faced with losing everything dear and the imminent end of life.

I had read a blog entry about the movie months ago that revealed the ending. I'd hoped I would have forgotten by the time I finally saw the movie, but I hadn't. Oddly enough... the movie didn't end the way the blogger had said it ended. I won't reveal anything. You just have to see it.

Some of the movie was filmed in Austin, Taylor and Huntsville, Texas. I recognized 6th Street, the Capitol and the University of Texas Campus. Other scenes looked like familiar Texas landscapes and townscapes.

The movie is well-written with light moments to balance out the dark ones. Nicolas Cage was one of the producers.

Yay! for The Life of David Gale!
