I remember watching that movie on STARZ one night. I loved that movie and I was surprise how utterly dispicable Reeves played his character, but then I happened to remember the horrendous person he playe in Much Ado About Nothing. Sometime he can really act.

Yeah, that movie was spooky, especially the tree water scene.

The Gift

Cate Blanchett is a fortune teller who gets mixed up in a murder investigation because of her psychic gift. It's got a pretty good cast. Hillary Swank is the wife of wife-beater Keanu Reeves. Katie Holmes is the murder victim, and Greg Kinnear is her fiance. Giovanni Ribisi is good as a friend of the psychic who's got some mental problems. His character provides a second storyline that makes the movie much richer than if it was just the murder mystery.

The soundtrack is peppered with slow fiddle music that's eerie and cool. The story kept my attention, and Cate Blanchett is great. She's been great in everything I've seen her in.

Judge a movie by the DVD cover rating: 3 out of 5. It's an okay cover if you just want to know what actors are in it, but it doesn't bring out the eerie side of the movie.
