I haven't seen Pitch Black but I liked this one OK. I don't find it hard to suspend disbelief anymore. You can't get through just about any film these days without being able to suspend several heaping helpings of disbelief.

The Chronicles of Riddick

The Chronicles of Riddick at Amazon
I'd heard this sequel to Pitch Black wasn't very good except for the special effects. I liked it, though. There were only two parts that irritated me:
  • when Riddick (Vin Diesel) was fighting off an army of Necromongers by simply putting his arms out as they approached and clothes-lining them.
  • when the characters were able to survive on the surface of Planet Crematoria where it's 700 degrees during the day and 300 below at night. That was more disbelief than I could suspend.
Still... I loved the story. Necromongers are traveling across the universe to a place called Underverse and destroying all the planets that cross their path. The people on the planets may either join their army or be destroyed with their planets.

Riddick is being chased by mercenaries and reluctantly gets caught in the Necromonger's path. Poor Necromongers.

The thing that intrigued me most is that it's a huge set-up for another sequel. A sequel that will hopefully start where this one left off and also explain Riddick's childhood.
