Woo hoo!! Remember, no matter where go, there you are...

Of course, my favorite quote is a bit of dialogue...
Where are we going?
Planet ten!
When?
Real soon!!

I haven't seen the new DVD but I heard that it rocks more than a theatrical showing. It is supposed to have a load of extras.

Christy, you are missin' a classic.

Yeah, I have the DVD. It has an interview with the director and he talks as if the movie is based on a true story!

I liked all the John names that the aliens had: John Big-Boote, John Small Berries, ... dang, I can't think of the rest of them! What are some of the others? And John Lithgow was great as Dr. Lizardo.

(And don't forget Yakov Smirnoff as ... "Smirnoff"! What a country!)

The only others I can remember are John Littlejohn and John Yaya - but there were a bunch more!

John Parker was the good alien with dreads. I don't know his partner's exact name, but I remember when they described his demise:

"John Valuke is dead; he hit his head."

(that's one of my favorite lines, too) laugh

The good girl alien who sent Buckaroo the recorded message was John Emdall. haha

You know the guy who played John Parker plays Sydney Bristow's partner on Alias. It took me forever to recognize him without the dreads!

'fraid not, Andy. I love that theme song, though!

I didn't know that, Christine!

I've been looking for the sheet music too, Andy. No luck, but I found a MIDI. It sucks majorly, but presumeably all the notes are there if you can find a music prog that'll let you look at the notes (most do) or one that explicitly translates MIDI to sheet music. As for me, I'm wanting to learn to play it on piano and occassionally freak people out in the dorms.

"John Carter, break the window" "why me, John Big Bootee?" "because it might be booby trapped." "Oh, OK"

You can get the song just to listen to on Itunes

Yay! Movies!

Movie

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai

[=A=]
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension at Amazon
Woo-Hoo! One of my favorite movies! Buckaroo Banzai is a neurosurgeon, particle physicist, martial arts expert and rock n roll star. I had a crush on Perfect Tommy. Not because he was perfect or anything. But because he had a great smile. smile

I'm not a big fan of John Lithgow except when he's serious, but he doesn't annoy me greatly in this one. He's goofy without being too over the top. I just LOVE his interaction with John Bigboote. hahahaha! John Bigboote sure hates him!!

I love how people keep saying John Bigboote's name wrong. The corrections chime... John Bigboot-AY!

Some of my favorite quirky lines are:
  • John Bigboote! Look! They have Sweet n Low!
  • What is this? / It's your hand, Buckaroo!
  • What's that watermelon doing there? (as quoted in Like It Matters not too long ago).
  • We're not in the 8th Dimension. We are over New Jersey.
And another thing I really love? The theme music!! It's probably the first electronic song I loved. I used to play it on my Wurlitzer organ. It always makes me think of Buckaroo and the other characters walking and walking and walking at the end.

This is a movie that I'd just as soon keep on my TiVo to watch over and over even though I need to make room for more movies. I really should get the DVD.

Sined, Seeled, Delivered! Yay! for Buckaroo Banzai!!
