I've been avoiding this movie because I am simply not much of a Bill Murray fan. I'll have to give it a whirl now.

He's pretty subdued in this one, Rob. Still silly at times, but not over the top.

Movie

Rushmore

Rushmore at Amazon
Rushmore is one of my favorite movies. Jason Schwartzman is high schooler Max Fischer. He's about to fail out because he's in too many extra-curricular activities. And boy, is he?! He's a leader gone wild, and a nerd to boot. He falls for one of the teachers. So does Bill Murray and a rivalry ensues. The movie has my favorite quality... quirk. I don't remember any laugh out loud moments, but it's subtly funny.

Seymour Cassel is precious as Max's barber father.

Dr. Peter Flynn: I understand you're a neurosurgeon.
Bert Fischer: No, I'm a barber, but a lot of people make that mistake.
It was filmed in Baytown and Houston, Texas. I remember the first time I saw it, I recognized some of the places. Now, I don't really. I miss those brain cells.

It's written by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson. They also wrote Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums. Funny guys.

Yay! for Rushmore!
