My rule of thumb is to never trust a work of fiction with a character named Julian (with the possible exception of Star Trek: DS9). It's too pretentious.

Or maybe it's just my imagination ...

PS: Happy Birthday tommorow!

Christian Slater is Julian, a man on a journey to a sea he's never seen to kill himself. He stops in a small town on the way. You'd think the people of that town had never seen a stranger (and maybe they haven't). Julian just wants some peace, but the town folk won't leave him alone. Some take everything Julian says as gospel, even when he precedes it with "I don't know" and speaks as if he's merely humoring them. People change their lives to follow the advice he really wasn't intending to give.

Then there's Sara. The most beautiful woman he's ever seen who tells him she's been waiting for him all her life. It's enough to make a man change his mind about suicide (which is too bad for the people betting in the pool on which day he'll do it).

This is an indie film with an indie feel. I liked it so much, I watched it twice.

Julian Po: I'm not going to kill myself today, so you can all just go on home.
Yay! for Julian Po!
