Yay! Movies!MovieDo or Die[=D=]
Do or Die - This sci-fi channel original production is about a possible future where people are separated into "cleans" and "infecteds." A virus got out of a lab years before and half the population was infected by it. The virus ages people one year every day. But it's not contagious. I guess you just had to have a predisposition to get it. It is hereditary, though.I didn't really understand how they got to a point where the "infecteds" were such outcasts. The disease isn't contagious. And it isn't even ugly. It's just that the people age really fast. The main female character gets pregnant with an infected baby, and her mother disowns her. What a horrible mother. A guy (Ethan Grant) came up with a serum to slow the aging process down. But instead of being benevolent with it, he used it to gain much power. The serum has a dye in it, so anyone who uses it ends up with a blue hand. That's how the clean people can tell who is infected. Grant is a bastard. He controls the flow of the serum. There's a adequate supply, but he lies and says there isn't. He also holds the key to a cure. But he doesn't tell anyone. If the disease is cured, his empire would crumble. I know this is just a movie, but it upsets me that anyone could be that way. I guess that's how the people at Enron were. They caused that big energy crisis in California so they could have more money. Unbelievable. ![]() I'm not a person who believes we should move to some other economy besides money, but I really do hate what money does to people. Everybody wants more. And a lot of people don't care where they get it. They will draw lines (like not robbing banks or whatever), but sometimes those lines are still too far. Like people who knowingly sell bad products. Hmmm... I kinda got off track here, but that's the lasting thought I had from this movie. Whenever we get money, whether it's from a job, or an investment, or a lawsuit, or a government program, or insurance... it comes out of someone else's pocket. I'm sickened by people who just want more and more money and don't give a crap about where the money comes from.
