Great story gmd! I always liked this movie. Lots of feel-good stuff, and poignant moments too, like the old guy who wouldn't join the rest at the end, as he felt it was the right thing to do to stick around. Lots of interesting moral questions raised ... Yay! Movies!MovieCocoon
This is one of those movies that when you hear the premise, you can't believe it will be any good. Old people go swimming in a pool with alien cocoons, start getting healthier and then get a chance to go off into outer space to live forever. But then it turns out to be a great movie. Ron Howard directed it after all.
The girl alien is Tahnee Welch, daughter of Raquel Welch. One of the guy aliens is Tyrone Power, Junior. To quote from the IMDb, "Great-great grandson of the original theatrical great Tyrone Power. Grandson of the American matinee idol and silent film star known today as Tyrone Power Sr.. Son of the famed leading man of sound pictures Tyrone Power." What do you think he'll name his son if he has one?
I've never had a grandpa, but I always thought Wilford Brimley would be a great grandpa. He is a great grandpa in this movie. I'd seen this one before. I've never seen the sequel, though. That's next on the agenda... More information and purchase: Cocoon
