Whoever invented the movie formula where there's a good guy trying to defeat the bad guys but gets stuck running around with a dumb girl who gets in the way at times should be flogged. This isn't really as bad as some, I guess, but I didn't like the Helen Slater character. It just felt like a whole lotta filler.... [No Way Back continued]
Someone recommended I watch this. I've said before that I'm not a fan of old movies because the acting is generally too affected for my taste. I liked watching Ingrid Bergman at times, though, because she's so much like her daughter, Isabella Rossallini. I guess that's backwards... her daughter is like her. This movie's about four girlfriends and takes place in two time periods... now and when they were kids. Most of it's about when they were kids, though. There were a lot of familiar faces: Rosie O'Donnell/Christina Ricci, Demi Moore/Gaby Hoffman, Melanie Griffin/Thora Birch, and Rita Wilson/Ashleigh Aston Moore (paired up by who played the adult and the kid).
