What a shmuck... Blade Runner is one of the most artistic and well done science fiction of the late 20th century. It's filmed dark and with lots of smoke because it gives the movie something we call "atmosphere" ...say it with me now, at-mo-sphere. Seriously, man, this movie isn't everyone's cup of tea, but let's not bash the way it was filmed, that's one of the best parts of the movie. That and it's one of the only science fiction movies that came out of the 80s that doesn't look dated and cheesy.

(Edited to show how an opinion can be expressed without unnecessary insults and sarcasm)

I don't have anything against "atmosphere," I just don't like the atmosphere in this movie. I thought it was overdone and hurt the movie more than it helped. I hope I never have to live in a world like that. But that's just me. Thanks for the comments.

I got sucked into this one because it said it had added scenes... the director's cut, I guess. I enjoy when there are extra scenes. Problem is, I didn't remember the original well enough to know what was added. I don't even like this movie, and I knew I didn't like it when I recorded it. But it's one of those movies that I feel like I'm *supposed* to like. I hate the way it's filmed... dark with eye shattering light flashing through. Many times, there's smoke and steam obscuring the view. The smoke is the most disgusting. I should have turned it off when Sean Young asked if smoking would screw up her replicant test. Then there's smoke, smoke and more smoke. And what's the deal with Darryl Hannah's tumbling run? But there is something that I did like very much. Edward James Olmos keeps doing tiny origami figures. I thought that was quirky and cool.

I didn't give it a TiVo thumbs down, though, because I'm afraid TiVo will assume I don't like Sci Fi or Harrison Ford or some other element that I actually do like. It can't possibly know that I don't like it because of the way it was filmed and because of all the smoke. So I doubt a thumbs down will help TiVo filter out other movies like that.
