Black Sunday

When I was a kid living in Houston, I used to see the Goodyear Blimp go over our house sometimes with its lighted sign showing pictures and messages. Back then, I wanted to ride in the Goodyear Blimp. I suppose I still do... I just hadn't thought about it in a long time. I got to see the Goodyear Blimp and its sign in this movie. I'd say "how fun!" except this movie wasn't very good. It was probably good back in 1977 in a disaster movie kind of way. Bruce Dern is a disturbed Vietnam vet who teams up with a Palestinian terrorist to use the blimp to shoot steal darts into the Super Bowl crowd. Luckily, Robert Shaw is on the case to stop them.

The end was so painful to watch. Shaw was rolling around on top of the blimp while Dern was trying to light a long fuse with a lighter that wasn't sparking. The fuse seemed longer than it needed to be, and the fire backtracked and burned the same section twice. I just wanted the stupid blimp to blow up already.

I'm surprised Goodyear let them use their blimp for attempted terrorism. I guess they figured it was free advertising or something.
