Beyond the Call

Beyond The Call at Amazon
This is my first Arliss Howard movie since "Ruby." I noticed him in that movie and liked him, so now I'm on a quest to see all his movies. Or at least all of his movies that my TiVo can find. smile He was good in this one, but not being a Vietnam vet, I can't really relate to his character. I mean absolutely no disrespect to Vietnam vets! I'm just saying. I think I might have been able to relate better if they had shown his nightmare visions.

He wasn't a main character, though. Sissy Spacek and David Strathairn were the main characters. Strathairn was on death row for killing a couple of people, one of whom was a police officer. She was his high school sweetheart who hadn't seen him since shortly after he got back from the war. She happened to read the paper and see he was on death row and wrote him a letter.

Arliss Howard was Sissy Spacek's husband.

David Strathairn gives me the creeps ever since I saw him in Dolores Claiborne. Maybe if I see him in a few more movies where he's likable, I'll get over that. I noticed on IMDB that he went to Ringling Bros. Clown College, FL.

This is a sad movie. I'll give it a "Yay!" for making me cry.

Yay! for Beyond The Call.
