I haven't seen "American History X," but I've heard something about it that gives me the shivers, so I'm not sure I'll watch that one at all. Of course I am biased, I have a special place in my heart for Nicholas Cage (he was in one of my all time favorite movies; Fastimes At Ridgemont High). Yay! Movies!Movie8MM
Joel Schumacher did a great job shooting this film. Most every scene was dark. Even inside places that didn't need to be dark... like in his own home. And when they were outside during the day, it was generally cloudy. That style added to the disturbing nature of the movie.
It was great how he only gave us glimpses of the 8mm film that the movie centers around, but we knew just how awful it was because of Nicholas Cage's reaction to it. That's great filmmaking.
I'd seen bits and pieces of this movie before, and I'm glad I watched the whole thing now. Jaoquin Phoenix's character was cooler than I thought before. He was likable... and this movie needed a likable character. More information and purchase: 8MM
