Last night, about 2:00 a.m., I woke up with a start. I was disoriented, and I thought I'd heard someone pound on my front door. Lily wasn't barking, though, and she always barks. I got up, and peeked out the window, but didn't see anything.

The pounding was gunfire. This morning, the Crime Scene Forensics truck was next door removing bullets from the inside of my next door neighbor's garage. No one got shot that they're aware. Apparently, the people across the street who have gatherings until all hours of the morning these days got out of hand and started shooting.

A lady in my neighborhood was complaining that it was "2 a.m. in the frickin' morning." I guess there are proper times and improper times for people to be shooting in our neighborhood.

My friend Brian and I went to Cantina Laredo for lunch yesterday. Very, very good food. They have a great gimmick. If you order guacamole, they make it right at your table. It's fantastic!!

The waiter was a little goofy. He didn't have the ability to adapt his chatter to the situation. When he was making the guacamole for us, he started his standard spiel about the menu. He told us that their specialty is guacamole, which they make at your table. I wanted to say, "You mean just like you're doing for us right now?" I held my tongue.

I did a silly thing and ordered apple pie with my meal. That threw him off a bit. After the meal (the apple pie was great), he brought the dessert tray. Dude... dessert has already been served. heh

But seriously... everything we ordered was great!

• I feel all growed up today. I rented a safety deposit box and put valuable jewelry and papers in there.
• I also moved things into my new house. Did I forget to mention that I bought a house? Yippee!
• My new house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two car garage, and a master bathroom sink that looks like a bowl sitting on the countertop.
• I took my little Papoose guitar over there and walked through the rooms playing and singing. I thought filling the place with music would be a good start to my new life there.
• I hope everyone has a rockin' 4th of July.
